Raw Cacao-ccino (Paleo, GAPS, AIP)

I still remember the first time I had a frappuccino at Starbucks. I didn’t really like the flavor of coffee then, but I asked for so much chocolate syrup and whipped cream that it pretty much masked any coffee flavor. Plus, the best part was that it was a frozen treat perfect for hot days.

This raw cacao-ccino has the frappuccino feel, minus the coffee. The small amount of caffeine and the amazing nutrients naturally found in cacao give a nice energy boost as is. If you fancy some flavor additions you can add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract or peppermint extract, but it’s great on its own as well. If you get in the habit of freezing coconut milk ice cubes ahead of time then you can enjoy this sweet treat any time.


Raw Cacao-ccino

Yield: 1 large cacao-ccino or 2 small ones


  • 1/2 cup water
  • ⅔ cup full fat coconut milk, frozen in ice cubes
  • 2-4 tablespoons raw cacao (2 tablespoons is a mild chocolate flavor, 4 tablespoons is for the dark chocolate lovers out there)*
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup


  1. Blend all ingredients until smooth and enjoy immediately!


*sub toasted carob powder for AIP
